AI to Find Your Color Palette in 5 Simple Steps

AI to Find Your Color Palette in 5 Simple Steps

By KELSEY BRAUN, Lifestyle Correspondent

A few months ago, as I sipped my morning coffee and pondered the vibrant chaos of my closet, I realized it was time for a makeover—not just any makeover, but one with a splash of tech-savvy magic that would make even Carrie Bradshaw proud.

It’s no secret that personalized color analysis is trending on social media. Color analysis is a system for figuring out which colors flatter you the most. It considers your natural coloring: including your skin tone, hair color, and eye color.

By analyzing these features, you can be categorized into one of the “color seasons” (like Winter, spring, Summer or Fall). Each season has its own color palette that’s designed to harmonize with your unique coloring and make you look your most radiant.

You may be surprised by the color analysis even if you think you already know your undertones. Before delving into personalized analysis, let’s explore each seasonal color palette and how they generally correspond to various physical characteristics:

Winter: Those in this category typically have light to dark skin with cool undertones, often with a blue or olive hue. Their hair is dark and cool, such as black, dark brown, or ash blonde, and their eyes are deep and intense, including dark brown, black, icy blue, or dark green.

Spring: Individuals typically have light to medium skin with warm undertones, often appearing peachy or golden. Their hair is usually light blonde, strawberry blonde, light brown, or golden brown, and their eyes are light and clear, such as blue, green, or light hazel.

Summer: People in this category generally have light to medium skin with cool undertones, giving a pinkish or blue hue. Their hair ranges from light blonde to medium brown with ash or neutral tones, and their eyes are light and soft, including shades like blue, gray, soft green, or light hazel.

Fall: These individuals often possess medium to dark skin with warm undertones, displaying a golden, olive, or bronze hue. Their hair is rich and warm, such as dark brown, auburn, chestnut, or deep red, and their eyes are deep and warm, like brown, hazel, green, or warm blue.

Here is your Step-by-Step Guide to Finding Your Color Palette with AI:

Step 1: Take a selfie in front of a window with natural, soft light—avoid harsh lighting.

Step 2: Open your selfie in your camera roll, select “Edit,” and then “Markup” (the marker icon). Use the color dropper tool to pick colors from your photo.

Step 3: Hover the color dropper over your forehead, the midsection of your hair, and next to your pupil. Screenshot or note the “Display P3 Hex Color #” for your skin, hair, and eye colors.

Step 4: Open ChatGPT and type a prompt similar to this (you can copy and paste this template):

“Please help me with my color analysis. I would like to wear clothes that compliment my skin tone, eye color and hair color. My skin tone number is #[insert your color code], my eye color is #[insert your color code] and my hair color is #[insert your color code]. Which skin tone pallet am I in terms of winter, spring, summer or fall, please.”

Step 5: The AI will provide a personalized color analysis. If needed, rephrase the prompt or provide more details. For more insights, ask follow-up questions like:

  • Specifically which colors would suit me best?

  • Which colors should I avoid wearing?

  • Please tell me what colors I should wear for makeup, nails and jewelry.

And that’s it, it’s that easy! With a sprinkle of AI and a dash of curiosity, you’re not just finding colors; you’re finding yourself. So, here’s to embracing technology with style, to playing dress-up with a purpose, and to always coloring outside the lines. After all, life’s too short to wear boring colors!
