Yolanda Corrales comes to Amazon USA
We catch up with actress Yolanda Corrales actress in “Palm Trees and Power Lines” a feature film made in Hollywood, also in 'I Am Tired Of Waking Up With You' a movie coming to Amazon USA in Feb 2022, and the global face of the Muñeca by Uriel Saenz perfume.
Tell us about your current projects around the world ?
I recently shot a feature film, “Palm Trees and Power Lines” in Los Angeles. Based on Dack’s short of the same name — which debuted as a Cinéfondation selection at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival — “Palm Trees and Power Lines” is a coming-of-age drama about a disconnected teenage girl named Lea (McInerny) who enters a relationship with a man twice her age. Lea sees him as the solution to all her problems, but his intentions are not what they seem.
This project makes me very excited because it is the first project that I filmed in the American market and it is a 100% English-speaking project. For a Spanish speaker, it is quite a challenge to be able to participate in a project where your nationality, accent, or physical image does not pigeonhole you in certain roles, the more freedom I have to act in different roles the more I enjoy and the more I learn about myself through the character.
I’m also looking forward for the premier to the Mexican film “Estoy Cansado de despertarme contigo” (I’m tired of waking up with you), its premiere is expected in February 2022 by Amazon USA and it has been an official selection of multiple festivals around the world including Osaka Film Festival in Japan and Marbella film Festival in Spain. It's a movie that talks about love and heartbreak in everyday life and how one day you think you love someone deeply, that you found the love of your life and later you realize that you were totally wrong.
Ces’t la vie!!
Mental health has impacted many of our readers in the past years , many dealing with loss? What tools have helped you during these times?
I have taken out all my tools and put them to work !!! One of them has been trying to stay connected with friends and family even living in different countries. Every day I spoke with someone, even with people I hadn't talked to in a long time, friends from Spain, Mexico, and Los Angeles. I also did a lot of physical training, I have been practicing a technique called Gyrokinesis for so many years. It consists of a lot of movement as well as breathing. If one day I was feeling blue or depressed, then a double Gyrokinesis session. I'm still taking care of myself as much as I can, practicing meditation, reading inspirational people, and trying to get out into nature as much as possible, and of course, I do what I like the most: acting, acting, acting!
You were also the global face of Muñeca by Uriel Saenz. How was it shooting the commercial during a pandemic?
It was a mix of emotions, on one hand, I was really happy of being able of working again since all the productions were canceled in Hollywood for a long time, and on the other hand, the fear of catching the virus, it was the first time that I was surrounded by so many people in the middle of the pandemic. I was honored to be selected from a casting of very well known and talented woman from around the world and to work with the Emmy award winning team of Val;agardo Productions.

How would you define your personal style?
In improvement!! I’m always learning and trying new things, creating new outfits, and enjoying them. This part of me has been a little lazy during the pandemic I would like to address it and enjoy it again.
How would you describe your identity?
Ufff, I would say that I am a citizen of the world. I have lived in 4 countries and I love them all. I like what each culture takes out of me, the good things that stand out, and about the bad things ... well, I have to learn. In Los Angeles I feel very, very Spanish and also a bit Mexican, although when I go to Spain I feel all the influence of all these years away from my country, I don't feel soooo Spanish there and sometimes it's hard, but that's the life of the immigrant, the life I have chosen.
What similarities do you see in people who are different?
I feel that we are all seeking to connect in a deeper way with other human beings, call it friendship, call it love ... whatever. In this era of technologies, pandemics, etc., we are disconnecting ourselves a little from others, but deep down it is what we most long for, how crazy is it, right?
